Check that this is your puzzle

Community-reported

The original Steam post calls it the Skipping Stones Orb. A commenter identifies the shrine around the halfway point of the first Skipping Stones level. Match that area and its lily-pad crossing before using these clues.

Three hints — open only what you need

Community-reported

Start with the first clue. You can close any hint again by activating its heading. The third hint reveals the central interaction, so leave it closed if you want to discover that yourself.

Hint 1 · Gentle nudge

A familiar element has another interaction you may not have needed yet. Think beyond arranging everything into a final static position.

Try this in the game before opening the next hint.

Hint 2 · What to observe

Watch a lily pad during its journey. Its motion takes time, giving you a window to act. Timing and speed matter here, not just the squares where it starts and stops.

Try this in the game before opening the next hint.

Hint 3 · Key interaction (strong spoiler)

You can redirect a lily pad before it finishes travelling. Try changing its course while it is in motion, rather than waiting for it to arrive at the destination you first expected.

Try this in the game before opening the next hint.

Test one idea, then reassess

Community-reported

This is help with a mechanic, rather than a prescribed final move sequence. The community report supplies the clue; your experiment on the matching board is the next step.

  1. 1Close the hint and return to the same Orb / shrine board.
  2. 2Try the observation or interaction suggested by the clue you opened. Change one part of your attempt so you can tell what made a difference.
  3. 3If you understand the idea but need more help, return and reveal the next tier. Stop reading once you have a new approach to try.
  4. 4If your board or objects differ from the shrine described above, identify the level again or use the original discussion to compare.

If time-speed input does not work

Official patch

Check the official October 9 update if you began with Skipping Stones and time-speed input stopped working after your first solve. The patch specifically addresses an R2 speed-up issue under that condition, along with checkpoint fixes in a few Skipping Stones levels.

Match the symptom and update your installed game before trying again. Those fixes do not establish that this Orb puzzle is broken or give its solution. Use the controls shown by your own game rather than an assumed button mapping.

Prefer to keep discovering on your own?

Take another route in the Overworld and return later. The official overview allows exploring other regions when one challenge blocks you; one player in the Orb thread also describes learning more by trying another set of puzzles.

Orb hint questions

QuestionAnswer
Are these hints for the old demo? The linked discussion is from after the October 8 full release. Match the first-level shrine rather than a demo level number.
Will opening one hint reveal all three? No. Each clue has its own control and can be opened or closed independently.
Are these official instructions? They are community clues. The official patch is a separate source for input and checkpoint fixes.
