Choose the symptom before changing settings
Official patchOfficial source| Symptom | Current state | Official first action |
|---|---|---|
| FPS drops after fast travel | Update #2 lists this for some systems. | Save after arriving at the new destination, then reload that save. |
| FPS declines after hours | Pinned Known Issues acknowledges long-session degradation. | Restart the game; the same post suggests PC performance power mode. |
| Dense neon or many lights | Update #2 adds light culling. | Lower Lighting Details to deactivate more distant lights. |
| Crowded area with many NPCs | Pinned Known Issues says frame rate can vary. | Apply relevant current actions; report a repeatable severe case. |
| Texture or resolution control behaves strangely | Update #2 changes settings UI and fixes resolution application cases. | Confirm the new texture setting and retest on Update #2. |
After fast travel: save and reload
Official patchThe official patch describes a performance problem after fast travel to certain places on some systems.
- 1Arrive at the destination and make a save.
- 2Reload that new save.
- 3If performance remains poor, record the destination, system and repeatable steps for support.
Lighting Details and crowded scenes
Official patchOfficial sourceLighting Details controls how many lights can remain active in view. At the far-right setting there is no culling; lowering it disables lights by distance. The official Known Issues post separately notes that high-NPC areas can vary in frame rate.
- 1In graphics settings, lower Lighting Details if a light-heavy scene is the symptom.
- 2Compare the same scene before and after the change.
- 3If crowd-heavy areas still run badly, capture the location and repeatable conditions.
What Update #1 and #2 changed

| Update #1 · Oct 1 | Character, action, animation and physics optimizations; fixed camera-related degradation after repeated save loads. |
| Update #2 · Oct 2 | Lower-LOD character optimizations, light culling, Lighting Details, texture confirmation/progress UI and resolution fixes. The Low texture option was removed; prior Low users move to Medium. |

When to contact official support
Official sourceIf the relevant official action fails, record where the slowdown happened, what preceded it, PC specs, and a screenshot or video if possible. The pinned post explains how to attach DxDiag, Player.log, Player-prev.log and a save file when useful. Steam Deck performance work is ongoing in the official Known Issues post.
