Before entering the map: check your carried-tool quantities. The reusable vehicle winch is always available; low-range gearing is a driving option, while grip and tool capacity are upgrades. These appear separately from your packing checklist. TechRadar’s launch review describes changing tools at the mechanic and replenishing them at campsites.

Three ways to use the expedition planner

A focused outing
Pick one challenge trail or a few exploration stops in the same area. Keep up to three destinations in your trip tray, in the order you want to visit them.
A recovery check before departure
Select likely obstacles, review the suggested carried tools, then mark each Ready or Still needed. Copy the summary so your plan is easy to refer to during the outing.
A return trip with a different group
Use separate local field logs to keep different plans on this device. Reopen a log and use Find Missing to choose what to visit next. See how personal progress works in co-op before comparing discoveries with friends.

Start with a few destinations in one area. Use the conditions you expect to build a practical preparation list.

  1. Choose your area and add up to three destinations.
  2. Select the terrain and recovery situations you expect.
  3. Adjust your carried tools and mark what is ready or still needed.
  4. Copy the summary, then record discoveries as you complete them.

Field notes & data

Maintained by Game Onramp for the Steam PC launch released October 14, 2026. Selected trail names and equipment references were checked on October 16, 2026.

Destination names and categories reference the independent Gamer Guides maps. The 79 selected entries span five areas and include 23 named challenge trails. The progress meter counts this selection. Equipment notes draw on launch reviews, the official Steam FAQ and an independent tools reference.

Over the Hill expedition planner FAQ

Replay a completed trail after the October 16 patch

The October 16 game patch awards Pebbles again for repeated challenge trails and recovery missions.

To replay a Done destination, choose Explore and turn off Only unfinished; your local Done mark can stay.

Official October 16 patch

Does every destination award Pebbles on repeat?

The developer names challenge trails and recovery missions. The 79 selected destinations include other kinds of places; they are not 79 repeat-reward activities. Check the current game for the activity’s award. The patch gives no verified payout amount, reset timer or fastest farming route.

Adding a completed destination plans another outing without clearing Done. The field log records completion, not visits or rewards per run. It is separate from Steam save data and the game patch does not reset your browser record.

What if an old meteorite location is empty?

The October 16 update adjusted meteorite spawn points across all areas. Use the current in-game map and terrain instead of treating an older or demo-era reference as a current pin. This planner orders up to three selected destinations and suggests carried tools for chosen conditions; it does not navigate, compute a shortest path or draw updated meteorite coordinates.

What should my group prepare or reveal?

Choose the conditions you expect, such as no tree anchors or rollover risk, then check the suggested portable anchor or car jack against your carried inventory. The patch does not establish a new universal equipment formula.

Use separate local field logs for different players; each teammate still needs their own in-game checkpoint credit. Show reward opens only the two previously community-corroborated vehicle rewards in this selected catalog. The Pebble fix does not turn other entries into guaranteed vehicle unlocks.

Where is my expedition saved? Does it follow my Steam save?

Plans and completion marks stay in this browser on this device. Clearing site data removes them. Steam Cloud does not transfer this field log: it is separate from your game save. Copy a trip summary before switching devices if you want to take a text checklist with you.

Can I keep separate co-op records?

Yes. Create up to four local field logs. Each has its own area plans and completion marks. These are records on your device; each teammate still completes their own in-game objectives.

Check co-op completion and vehicle unlocks

How do Explore and Find Missing use my progress?

Explore shows the destinations in your selected area and category. Find Missing hides the entries marked Done in the current field log; category and name filters still apply. Map references and the two community-corroborated vehicle rewards open only when you choose to reveal them. The meter counts this selected catalog, not your game save completion.

What happens to my manually chosen tools when conditions change?

Condition-based suggestions follow the boxes you select. Tools you add manually stay in the packing list, and tools you remove stay excluded until you add them again. Ready or Still needed marks are retained for that area in the current field log, so revisit those marks before your next outing.

Should I use the planner or the in-game map?

Use the planner to choose destinations, review tools and keep personal completion notes. Use your in-game map and visible terrain to find those places and choose a driving line. The copied summary follows your selection order; it does not calculate a shortest path or checkpoint directions.

Should I choose a challenge trail or exploration stops?

Choose a challenge trail when you want a checkpoint-based driving objective. Choose a cabin, scenic stop or another catalogued destination when you want an exploration outing you can shape yourself. Start with one objective if you are learning the vehicle, then add nearby goals after checking the in-game map.

Trail and exploration context in Traxion’s launch review

Does adding a destination mark it complete?

No. Add puts a destination in your trip tray; Done records that you completed it. You can remove a destination from the trip without deleting its completion mark. To undo a completion while Find Missing hides it from the results, clear Done in the trip tray, or return to Explore and turn off Only unfinished.
