Three ways to get into a Podracer
For immediate play, start with Arcade: Traxion’s launch review reports that it lets you jump straight into Podracing. Campaign Tales and the online Pod Tour have separate progression.
| Your goal | Access path | Source and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Podrace immediately | Arcade | Traxion launch review: direct access before the later story events. |
| Progress through solo Podracing | Campaign: Tales of Podracing | PowerPyx launch guide: Act 2, then Sebulba encounters. |
| Race other players | Online Podracer events | Official FAQ: up to 8 players. Traxion review: Pod Tour at multiplayer rank 5. |
Start with Arcade
Independent reportingYou do not need to finish the Campaign just to try Podracing. Arcade provides the immediate access reported in Traxion’s review, so use it to learn the vehicle before pursuing Campaign Tales or multiplayer ranks.
- 1Open Arcade and choose one of its Podracing events.
- 2Use the assigned vehicle and event conditions to learn the circuit. Arcade uses curated events in the launch review.
- 3Practise a clean lap, concentrating on the approach to narrow corners before pushing for more speed.
- 4Return to the same event to compare your run; connect online if you want the friend-based Arcade leaderboard.
Campaign Tales of Podracing: Sebulba and retries
Independent reportingPowerPyx’s October 6 launch guide places Tales of Podracing from Act 2. Seek Sebulba when exploring a planet on foot; talking to him opens a Tale. The guide reports 12 Tales: finish first and complete any extra objective shown for that event.
A failed Tale waits for another Sebulba encounter before a retry, according to the guide. Check its event conditions before starting, especially when an extra objective accompanies the race.
Ramjets and airbrake: speed versus control
Official sourcePodracers emphasize extreme speed. The official vehicle guide describes ramjets as a way to reach even higher velocity, while the airbrake enables tight turns at a dramatic speed cost. Your first practice goal is to find that balance, rather than applying boost through every corner.
- On a clear stretch, practise ramjet use while leaving room to react to the next turn.
- Before a tight corner, use the airbrake deliberately and notice how much velocity it removes.
- Once the line is stable after the turn, build speed again. Repeated emergency braking can undo the benefit of a fast straight.
Can you tune or customize a Podracer?
Official sourceNo. The developer FAQ explicitly says Podracers are not customizable. The game’s general build and parts systems should not be read as a promise of Podracer customization. Practise the assigned vehicle’s braking and speed balance instead of searching Hibi’s workshop for Podracer upgrades.
Online Podracing and the Pod Tour
Dedicated online Podracer events support up to eight racers according to the official FAQ. Traxion’s October 2 review reports that multiplayer rank five unlocks a separate Podracing Tour; check that progression in the current game if the Tour is not visible.
Should I start with Arcade or Campaign?
Independent reportingUse Arcade when you want to try Podracing immediately. Choose Campaign when you want the story and Sebulba’s Tales; the launch trophy guide places those Tales from Act 2. The two access paths serve different goals.
Can I retry a failed Tale immediately?
Independent reportingPowerPyx’s launch guide says a failed Tale requires a later Sebulba encounter for another attempt. Before racing, read the extra objective, if any, so that first place alone does not leave the Tale incomplete.
Why does using the airbrake cost so much speed?
Official sourceThe official vehicle guide describes this as the Podracer’s handling trade-off: the airbrake helps with tight turns but dramatically reduces velocity. Practise where to brake, then restore speed once the exit is under control.
Should I search for better Podracer parts?
Official sourceThe developer FAQ says Podracers are not customizable. Focus on the vehicle’s handling and the event conditions. The broader repulsorcraft build system does not override that Podracer-specific rule.
What do I need for Podracing with cross-platform friends?
Official sourceOnline Podracing supports up to eight racers. Cross-platform play uses EOS; Steam needs its redistributable, and managing non-Steam friends needs Epic sign-in. Check the current party limit separately from the race capacity.
