Star Wars: Galactic Racer Guide

Published Updated

Start a Campaign Tour with a Racer Style, then build around compatible Parts and upgrades. Use the Build Explorer to plan your next run, or head to multiplayer and Podracing for mode-specific help.

Choose a mode, vehicle and repeatable build focus. The guides below separate permanent progression from the setup you assemble during each Tour.

Campaign follows Shade through the Galactic League. Scenario is a separate event mode; Arcade offers another way to race outside a Tour. Campaign, Scenarios and Arcade events are all playable offline. Online multiplayer and connected Arcade leaderboards need an internet connection.

How the runs-based Campaign works

Official source

A Tour is a sequence of choices: your vehicle, build and event path all affect the next attempt. The official story overview says too many crashes can end the Tour, while certain perks and unlocks survive into subsequent attempts.

  1. 1Pick the vehicle and build you want to learn rather than changing every variable at once.
  2. 2Choose your next event as you move through the League. Branching routes make circuit knowledge part of the challenge.
  3. 3Talk to Hibi in the paddock to fit parts earned during runs or bought from her workshop.
  4. 4If a Tour ends after too many crashes, regroup and begin another attempt. Use the perks and unlocks that carry over to refine your approach.

Pick a vehicle by its handling

Official source

Start with a landspeeder if you want a stable, durable introduction. The official vehicle guide gives each class a different handling identity; Podracers have their own customization rule.

ClassHandling identityWhat to practise
LandspeederDurable, stable and suited to driftingCarry a controlled line through corners; use ramjet boosts when the exit is clear.
Speeder bikeFast and agile, with little armorLearn its wider turns during Kinetic Burst before using that burst in traffic.
Skim speederResilience and agility, slower accelerationPreserve momentum and practise the Knife Edge maneuver for tight gaps and corners.
PodracerExtreme speed; airbrake sharply reduces velocityBalance speed with tight-turn braking. The developer FAQ says Podracers are not customizable.

Want to Podrace before playing the story?

Independent reporting

Choose Arcade first. Traxion’s October 2 review reports immediate Podracing access there, while Campaign Podracing appears later. This is the shortest reported route if your first goal is simply to try a Podracer.

Can PC and console players race together?

Official source

Yes. The developer FAQ confirms cross-platform play through Epic Online Services. Online races support up to 12 players on speeders and up to 8 on Podracers. Steam players need the EOS library for crossplay and Epic sign-in to manage non-Steam friends.

What can I play without an internet connection?

Official source

Campaign, Scenarios and Arcade events can be played offline. An internet connection is required for online multiplayer and connected Arcade leaderboards. The leaderboard shares your best times with friends rather than maintaining a public ranking.

Is Galactic Racer only about Podracing?

Official source

It includes landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and Podracers. The official game overview centers on a runs-based Campaign with different repulsorcraft classes and a competitive multiplayer mode. Choose the Podracing page when that specific vehicle is your goal.

Should I use a gamepad or a racing wheel?

Official source

Use a supported controller or keyboard and mouse. The developer FAQ confirms controller rumble and keyboard/mouse support, and says there are currently no plans for wheel, HOTAS/HOSAS, full haptics, resistance or VR support.

Which platforms is Galactic Racer available on?

Official source

The worldwide release date is October 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. PC storefronts listed in the developer FAQ are Steam and the Epic Games Store. Cross-platform friend management uses EOS.
